Tell Twitter to go X itself.
Let’s get started.
A social network you curate & control without Wall Street interference.
Why do we use social? To stay connected. Follow the people we care about and that we’re interested in.
When Social media came into existence, it attracted users partially by being entirely free.
But it wasn’t free. At the time, companies like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and more needed serious servers, bandwidth, electricity and support to keep things online and working. These companies had to do something to make money. So they listened to the MBAs and they sold ads.
And that’s when things turned ugly.
Instead of you doing the work to find what you want, social puts things in front of you that it assumes you want. Advertisers love this, because they can target you better. The result? You click more because you feel like you can’t stop. The longer the social app can keep you going, the better. They get paid more $ because you ultimately watch more ads.
But next is where things turn to shit.
Some people want to sell you a product. Other people want to change your mind. Around August 20, 2023 Elon Musk decided that it was OK for Twitter (X) to remove the block feature. Now, you no longer have the ability to block someone whose voice, opinion or belief system you don’t want to hear or disagree with. This crosses a serious line between Musk’s original vision for a “global town hall” and a network of forced data ingesting.
